1989 UK Championship (snooker)

The 1989 StormSeal UK Championship professional ranking snooker tournament took place between 25 November and 3 December 1989 at the Guildhall, Preston, England and the TV stages were shown on BBC. StormSeal became the new sponsor of the UK Championship. The highest break of the tournament was 138 made by Steve Davis.

Defending champion Doug Mountjoy lost in the last 64 against rookie player Joe O'Boye. While the 1988 runner-up Stephen Hendry won his first of five UK titles when he beat six times winner Steve Davis 16–12 and it took him on course for the World No 1 spot in the game.
